JAY — A parade and fireworks are planned for Thursday, July 3.
The parade lineup is at 4 p.m. at Memco in Jay with the procession starting at 5 p.m. Participants will head down Main Street/Route 4 and end on Depot Street at Ware-Butler in Livermore Falls.
The Parade Committee asked people to consider getting friends, family, co-workers and organizations involved to decorate a float or to enter in tractors, in trucks, on bikes, in wagons or just walking with a banner to celebrate the independence of America.
Parade marchers will include a contingent of politicians, including U.S. Rep. Mike Michaud, U.S. Senate candidate Shenna Bellows, state Sen. Emily Cain, state Sen. John Patrick, state Rep. Paul Gilbert, and Charles Dingman.
After the parade, a chicken barbecue will be held at VFW Post 3335 on Jewell Street and Franklin Road in Jay. The cost is $8 per person.
Fireworks will take place at dusk from Spruce Mountain Ski Slope in Jay and are shot off over the Androscoggin River. The fireworks display is organized by the Jay-Livermore-Livermore Falls Chamber of Commerce.
