FARMINGTON — Based on their work habits, three Farmington Police Department officers were recently recognized by police Chief Jack Peck.

Officer Derrick Doucette and Officer Darin Gilbert were given the employee of the quarter honor for spring for an incident April 30, Peck said. The two were patrolling the Wilton Road and noticed a car that pulled off the road near Farmington Ford. They stopped to check on the driver and realized it was a medical emergency.

Doucette helped as Gilbert performed emergency procedures, including chest compressions. They helped NorthStar ambulance personnel until the driver started breathing and was taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital.

Officer Michael Lyman was selected as the department’s employee of the quarter for the winter of 2014. During the first three months of this year, Lyman issued 25 summonses for criminal violations, covered 16 vehicle crashes, two drug cases and 22 other incidents.

Lyman also stopped over 450 vehicles, issued 25 citations and 424 warnings.

“Your professionalism and commitment to your job are apparent to your co-workers and also to the members of the community that you come in contact with,” Peck said.

A combination of experience, training, hard work and dedication exemplified by these officers’ actions helps meet the mission of the Farmington Police Department “to create a feeling of safety for the people within the town of Farmington,” Peck said.
