Rain, hail and wind could not keep young anglers from participating in the 29th annual Beaver Park Fishing Derby on May 4 in Lisbon. The derby has become a family tradition for many families with fathers, sons or daughters having grown up as participants. The derby is made possible by the generosity of local businesses, organizations and individuals who donate prizes and funds to purchase brook trout to stock the Middle Pond.
- Isaac Austin is all smiles because he caught the largest trout of the day measuring 13 inches and it was the first time he caught a trout larger than his sister’s, Carlee Austin. Their dad was a participant at the first Beaver Park derby in 1984. The family tradition carries on.
- Eloise Ridley in full concentration. The 23-month-old was attending her second Beaver Park Fishing Derby. The tradition has started.
