AUBURN — The Auburn Community Concert Band’s Wednesday night performance July 2 will be a program of patriotic music, celebrating July Fourth.

The 75-minute concert will include well-known marches, numerous patriotic songs and musical tributes to the U.S. The band will also salute audience members serving, or who have served in the Armed Forces, by performing the theme songs of all five military branches.

According to a news release from the Auburn Community Band, the July 2 concert could be the only performances of it kind, or one of a few, offered in central Maine during the July Fourth celebration. The performance will reflect the country’s sentiments of patriotism and nostalgia.

The band conductor and director is Milt Simon, a graduate of Boston University’s school of music. He studied trumpet and conducting with members of the Boston Pops and Boston Symphony Orchestra before moving to Auburn. Band members are volunteer musicians who range in age from their mid teens to their late 80s. They live in 16 central, southern and coastal communities.

The concert will be from 7 to 8:15 p.m. at the Main Street location. In case of rain, it will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn.
