PERU — The Board of Selectmen on Monday set the 2014-15 tax rate at $18.50 per $1,000 of property value. Last year’s rate was $17.50.
A permit to replace stairs and an entrance deck on Dew Brook Road was granted.
A request Gayle Maddox on East Shore Road for a shed was tabled until selectmen could look at the site.
The board reviewed an intent to harvest for Paul White for 30 acres.
Selectmen voted to place an ad for volunteers for the Charter and Recreation committees. They will choose names July 18 to make sure there is a balance on both committees.
Larry Porter asked if committee members turned in slips when they charged for gas for mowers and other supplies. Board secretary Angela Barkhouse said she never closed town books until she had all the slips accounted for.
Selectman Jim Pulsifer said the committee members are all volunteers and indicated he had no concerns.
Before the board meeting, there was a hearing on the General Assistance Ordinance. The board voted afterward to adopt it.
