AUBURN — The Penley Corner Church on Riverside Drive will hold its annual all-faith service at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 13.
The church was built in 1833 on land donated by Captain John Penley. Upkeep is done through donations and voluntary work.
There will be a business meeting of the Penley Corner Church and Cemetery Corporation at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 12. All are welcome to attend the meeting and church service.
Refreshments will be served after the service.
The Rev. Peter W. Mercer will conduct the service.
Mercer has spent 50 years in ministry affiliated with the United Church of Christ. He served 15 years as chaplain of the Governors Academy, formerly the Governor Dummer Academy in Massachusetts and the Suffield Academy in Connecticut. He spent 35 years in parish ministry in Maine and Massachusetts, retiring from the First Parish Church in Saco.
Presently Mercer is acting pastor at the First Congregational Church in Southwest Bend, Durham.
Mercer has two sons and live with his wife in Scarborough.
