PORTLAND — Portland Harbor will light up for Toys for Tots.
Capt. Shawn Welch, a member of the South Portland Lions Club, hoped to line up 100 or more boats Saturday night to tour the harbor for a “Christmas in July” parade of lights to benefit Toys for Tots.
He hatched the idea with Harbormaster Kevin Battle.
Participants will include the Coast Guard, fireboats from Portland and South Portland and local tugboats. There is no cost to enter, other than providing a new, unwrapped toy to the Toys for Tots program.
