Vendor fair benefits Canton man

AUBURN — A benefit Sweet Summertime Vendor/Craft Fair and Raffle will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 19, at Norway Savings Bank Arena, behind Shaw’s Supermarket.

The event will benefit Alan Spear, formerly of Canton, who was in a serious accident on July 27, 2013. He is still in what is called a minimally conscious state and requires round-the-clock care. This event will help raise money to get a wheelchair lift for the family’s vehicle, and some other much needed items to help in his care.

Weary Club to meet July 19

NORWAY — The members and friends of The Weary Club will meet for coffee Saturday, July 19, from 8 to 9:30 a.m.

The Weary Club, which began in 1923, is a unique, one of a kind institution found only in Norway, Maine. The coffee and doughnuts are always good and the conversation even better.

VFW breakfast is July 20

HARRISON — The Ronald St. John VFW Post, 176 Waterford Road, will hold their popular breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. Sunday, July 20.

The menu includes scrambled eggs, French toast, bacon, sausage, home fries, biscuits and gravy, sweet breads, fruit cups, orange juice and beverage. Adults, $7; children under 10, $3.

Shadagee Ramblers to perform

LOCKE MILLS — The Shadagee Ramblers will perform at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 20, at the Town Hall, Main Street.

Annual performance competition

MECHANIC FALLS — The Down East Country Music Association will hold their annual performance competitions on Sunday, July 20, at the Silver Spur, Route 121.

Competitions will start at 11 a.m.

Admission is $6 for nonmembers; $5 for DECMA members; $2 for children under 12 years.

East Sumner Vacation Bible School

SUMNER — Vacation Bible School at the Congregational Church of East Sumner, 50 Main St. (Route 219), will be held from 9 a.m. to noon July 21-25.

Caregiver training offered in Paris

PARIS — SeniorsPlus announces Savvy Caregiver 1 training 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, July 24 to Aug. 28, at the Maine Veterans Home at 477 High St.

Community supper benefits food bank

SUMNER — A community supper will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, July 24, at the Hartford Sumner Elementary School to benefit the Sumner Food Bank assisted by the Youth Team of the Virginia Hope Presbyterian Church.
