‘Famous’ chicken pie supper

BOLSTERS MILLS — A “famous” chicken pie supper will be held Saturday, July 19, at Bolsters Mills United Methodist Church. Seatings will be at 5 and 6 p.m. A third seating will follow as needed.

Cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children under the age of 12.

The building is handicap accessible and air conditioned.

Supper includes chicken pie, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetable, rolls, homemade dessert and beverages.

Reservations accepted by calling 583-9024 on Saturday between 9 a.m. and noon. Reservations must be confirmed; do not leave a message.

Bake sale supports library Lego Club

PARIS — A bake sale to support the Paris Public Library’s Lego Club is being held in conjunction with the first day of the library’s annual used book sale on Saturday, July 26.

The bake sale will run from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., and will feature a wide selection of baked goods including pies, breads, whoopie pies, cupcakes, brownies and, of course, cookies.

The bake sale will be at the old Paris Farmers’ Union store at the corner of Main Street (Route 26) and Skilling Avenue in South Paris.

Proceeds from the bake sale will be used to purchase Lego sets for the club members to assemble. The group meets during the summer on Wednesday afternoons, from 1-4, at the library and is presently constructing the Lego Star Wars Death Star.

Dance at World’s Fair fairgrounds

WATERFORD — Waterford World’s Fair Association will have a dance at the Fairgrounds dance hall on Saturday, July 26. Music runs from 8 p.m. to midnight.

The Country Ridge Riders Band is very well known in southern Maine and members have play together for many years.

Admission is $10 per person and the dance is BYOB.

The fairgrounds is at 36 Green Road in North Waterford, just up the street from Melby’ Market.

Bowl for Kids’ Sake top fundraiser

NORWAY — John Gouin, a resident of Norway and employee at Hannaford, received a Bowl for Kids’ Sake Top Fundraiser Award from Community Concepts Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Over the past three years, Gouin has raised nearly $5,000 for the local nonprofit organization, helping to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever.

He also was the winner of the Bowl for Kids’ Sake grand prize drawing, a 32-inch television, donated by Agren Appliance.

Bake sale, flea market planned

WATERFORD — The North Waterford Church across from Melby’s Eatery will hold a bake sale/flea market from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26.
