- Connor Rouze, 11, of Westminster, Colo., gets a boost from the Max Cure Foundation mascot as he dunks a sneaker on the basketball court at Kamp Kohut in Oxford on Thursday morning. The Maine Camp Experience teamed up with the Max Cure Foundation in a “Dunk Your Kicks” event to help raise money for pediatric cancer by collecting used sneakers that will be turned in to a recycler for about $1 a pair. Kamp Kohut is one of several summer camps participating in the event that organizers hope will surpass last year’s total of 1,000 sneakers.
