LEWISTON — Officers from the Lewiston Police Department descended on the neighborhood surrounding Lewiston Variety after receiving a report of an armed robbery.
The robbery took place around 9 p.m. Sunday, prompting the store closure as officers questioned the lone clerk on duty.
One after another, would-be patrons approached the locked door, gave it a tug and after being apprised of the situation muttered something to the effect of, “not again.”
One unidentified male said, “Did somebody rob it again? This is like the second time in two months.”
He wasn’t far off. In April, police charged a 28-year-old Livermore Falls man, Ronald Austin with robbery. He pleaded not guilty in June.
More information will be made available as the investigation progresses.
