LEWISTON — The Central Maine Medical Center College of Nursing and Health Professions has changed its name to better reflect its expanding role as a health care professions educational institution.

The Lewiston-based facility is now the Maine College of Health Professions, a name intended to better convey the college’s mission and the expanded courses of study it has developed over the past several years.

The Maine College of Health Professions has clinical connections with health care organizations in Lewiston, Portland, Bangor, Augusta, Waterville, Bridgton, Rumford and Farmington. These organizations include hospitals, outpatient clinics and long-term care facilities.

The Maine College of Health Professions offers two-year associate degree programs in nursing, radiologic technology and nuclear medicine technology. These programs feature low student-to-faculty ratios and strong emphasis on clinical skills in both the simulation laboratory and at health care facilities throughout Maine.

The Nursing Program offers a traditional day program, an evening-weekend program, and a new fast-track program. Other courses of study include computed tomography, medical terminology, reiki and a certified nurse’s assistant course. General education courses are available to the general public each semester.

The Maine College of Health Professions is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and each program is accredited by professional national accreditation agencies.
