LIVERMORE FALLS — The replacement of two 50-foot culverts on Moose Hill Road and Claybrook Road are estimated to cost between $20,000 and $30,000, the town’s public works foreman, Bill Nichols, told selectmen on July 15.
During heavy rains in early July, they started to lose the two 4-foot diameter culverts.
“I put some rip-rap down to hold the banking,” Nichols said.
The state requires a field inspection to be done on large culverts being replaced, he said.
He also informed selectmen that the town’s 2002 GMC dump truck is having engine problems. Initially, they thought it was an injector issue but now it is believed that a cylinder on the Caterpillar computerized engine is not working. He has been having the truck reviewed to determine what is wrong and collecting quotes for repairs.
The engine has 6,800 hours and 55,000 miles on it.
He estimated the repair to cost more than $10,000.
He will present his findings at the 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 5, board meeting.
