HARTFORD — Selectmen met with the Ordinance and Road committees Tuesday night to clarify wording in road standards.
Road Committee member Daniel Maddox said design and construction standards in the Road Ordinance were not specific enough for writing contracts.
Alan Ray and Lennie Eichman of the Ordinance Committee said they will look for ways to implement more specific requirements in preparing a roadbed.
Road Committee member Harley Swanson pointed out that the road standards in the Subdivision Ordinance are more stringent than those in the Road Ordinance.
Road Committee member Barry Langer said bringing present roads up to subdivision standards would be costly, so it should be specified that the new ordinance would apply to new roads only.
Others attending the meeting were Selectman Cathy Lowe, who is also a member of the Road Committee, and selectmen Lee Holman and Margaret Poskus.
