HARTFORD — The Hartford Community Church Clothing Center will be open Saturdays, Aug. 2 and 16, from 9 to 11 a.m. across from the church.

Knitting Guild to meet Aug. 5

OXFORD — Western Maine Knitting Guild will meet at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, at the First Congregational Church, East Main Street, Paris, and carpool to Eleanor Heidrich’s home on Route 26 in Oxford.

Bring a dessert, salad or hot dish to share for the potluck luncheon.

There will be a business meeting and a sharing time to show current work or completed work.

WEST PARIS — The Neighborhood Niche Food Pantry will be open from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, at West Paris Baptist Church, 15 Church St.

The pantry is open the first and third Tuesdays of each month. West Paris residents are invited to come once a month.

OTISFIELD — The food pantry at Spurrs Corner Church, Route 121, will be open Tuesday, Aug. 5, from 10 a.m. to noon.

Weary Club to meet Aug. 6

NORWAY — The annual meeting of The Weary Club will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, in the public meeting room at the Norway Town Hall. All members are encouraged to attend.

The Weary Club, which began in 1923, is a unique, one of a kind institution found only in Norway, Maine. The club features a neat, white one-story building right in the center of the town and has a storied history that has spread worldwide.

Membership remains strong and currently includes some third-generation members as well as “makers and dealers in cedar shavings, social gossip, political wisdom and Yankee philosophy.” The Weary Club is a part of Norway’s rich heritage and is a local institution.
