CANCELLED on July 31, 2014. Possibly rescheduled in the fall.

AUGUSTA — Join two of Maine’s finest comedians, Emma Willmann and Tim Hofmann, for an evening of fun, laughter, and a great cause from 7:30-9:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, at the University of Maine at Augusta’s Jewett Hall Auditorium. The stand-up comics are the headlining performers for the UMA Alumni Association’s Comedy Night. All proceeds benefit the UMAAA scholarship fund for future UMA students.

Originally from Blue Hill, Willmann exploded onto the Boston comedy scene in 2010. She won first place in the Boston Comedy Riots in 2011 and was featured in the 2011 and 2012 Boston Women of Comedy Festival. From there, Willmann brought her high energy, deeply personal, and observational act to New York City, where she quickly moved up the NYC comedy ranks – making her national television debut on Axis TV’s Live at the Gotham in 2014.

Willmann has opened for Louie Anderson and appeared with Aziz Ansari and Donald Glover. She is starring in two upcoming episodes of the popular TV show Deadly Affairs, on the Investigation Discovery Network.

Joining Willmann on stage is Portland-based comedian Tim Hofmann, who is a UMA Alumnus. Blisteringly fast, explicit, over-the-top rants packed with punch lines are Hofmann’s trademark. His acts are described by comedy peers as some of the most fun, bizarre, and original on the comedy circuit.

A veteran of open mics and bar shows throughout the country, Hofmann developed his stand-up act on stages in New York City, Boston, and Portland. Hofmann is the producer of the Laugh Shack, an underground comedy club in Portland. He is well known for his strong writing and performances.

General admission tickets are $10 per person, and all show attendees must be at least 18 years of age. Tickets can be pre-purchased at www.uma.edu/alumnievents.html or at the door on the night of the show starting at 7 p.m.
