CARTHAGE — New England Celtic Arts will present PEI’s Ten Strings and a Goat Skin and Maine’s Gawler Sisters for the final 2014 Patriot Renewables Emerging Artist Series concert at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, at Skye Theatre. A jam session kicks off at 6:15 p.m.

Rooted in the traditional, members of this award-winning trio celebrate the music of the Irish and Francophone cultures they share, infuse their original compositions and traditional standard tunes with modern and world rhythms and interpretations to create an infectious energy and unique sound that speaks to all ages.

Building on a base of much-loved traditional Maritime music with a good dose of originality, innovation and humor, the band grabs both French and English audience right from the first note. They easily connect with their listeners while they create an atmosphere that is pure fun.

The Gawler Sisters with Bennet Konesni are fun-loving, folk-singing, fiddle-playing sisters, Molly, Edith, and Elsie, who bring beautiful songs and stories from their roots in the heart of Maine. Their extensive collection of tunes in the Scots-Irish, Franco-American and Scandinavian traditions is complemented by angelic three-part-harmony, gutsy worksongs, folk-blues, and amusing odes to everyday life. Molly Gawler often combines modern interpretive dance to the strains of old-time and Celtic music.
