YARMOUTH — Entries are being accepted until 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, for the sixth annual Yarmouth Art Festival. The juried show will be held Oct. 22-25 at St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church at 396 Gilman Road, about a mile from Cousins Island.
Created in 2009 as a venue for artists statewide, the festival welcomes online submissions – painting, sculpture, photography, etching and digital media – from any artist 18 and older who maintains a residence in Maine. The fee is $15 per person for the first piece, $10 for the second and $5 for every additional one.
To access an entry form and the rules, visit www.yarmouthartfestival.com. Artists will be notified Oct. 1 about works that have been selected for inclusion, the same date an online preview gallery of the show will be available.
The 2013 show featured 74 Maine artists, from Dover-Foxcroft to South Berwick, exhibiting 160 pieces that were selected by a panel of jurors from among nearly 350 submissions. A total of 45 pieces were sold. The 2013 show catalog can be found at www.yarmouthartfestival.com.
This year’s jurors are artist Suzanne Harden; Anne Haas, Bowdoin College art librarian; and Elizabeth Moss, owner of Elizabeth Moss Gallery in Falmouth.
The 2014 festival will be open Wednesday, Oct. 22, through Friday, Oct. 24, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Saturday, Oct. 25, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. An artists’ reception, including music and refreshments, will be held Thursday, Oct. 23, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Admission will be free for both the festival and the reception, with donations accepted.
Submission fees and sale commissions support local community services, such as the Yarmouth Community Food Pantry and St. Elizabeth’s Essentials Pantry in Portland.
