BYRON — In an effort to bring some extra attention to their organization, the Byron Historical Society is hosting an indoor and outdoor yard sale from Friday to Sunday, Aug. 29 to 31, its building off Route 17.
Resident Suzanne Noyes said the society attempted to hold an indoor yard sale a few weeks ago, but because of a lack of advertising, they had very few people show up.
“After that yard sale happened, I found out that there was no advance notice about the sale, so we didn’t have a lot of people at all,” Noyes said. “The Byron Historical Society can really use some money. There’s a lot of improvements that can be made, and since we’re up here, in the middle of nowhere, it’s hard to get people over here.”
The sale is from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, and from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 30 and 31.
Noyes said it costs $15 to rent a space to sell items.
“We have a lot of people renting spots inside right now,” Noyes said. “There’s still a lot of spots inside that people can rent.”
Noyes said books, dishes, tools and clothing and among the items available.
“I actually have a small table set up where I sell some of my jewelry,” Noyes said. “There’s going to be a beading station for people to make their own jewelry if they wish. I was hoping to get a face-painter there, but I haven’t heard anything yet.”
