In January, the chorus will begin rehearsals for its annual road show which is performed during July at several local concert venues which have included Sawyer Memorial in Greene, All Souls’ Chapel at Poland Spring, the Brick Church for the Performing Arts in Lovell, and the Denmark Performing Arts Center.
Members of the chorus come from Bethel, Rumford, Waterford, Lovell, Norway, South Paris, Oxford, Hebron, and Bridgton. The chorus, a Region 1 Chapter of the Sweet Adelines International, has been singing barbershop harmony since 1996.
Barbershop is a musical style sung, without accompaniment, by bass, baritone, lead, and tenor voices. The chorus rehearses in Oxford each Tuesday from early September to the end of July taking the month of August off. New members are always welcomed.
