WILTON — Two local girls under the age of 14 have been charged with burglary and theft of jewelry from an apartment on Cameron Street, according to police Chief Heidi Wilcox.
“All the stolen property has now been accounted for,” she said. It was valued at around $1,500, not several thousand dollars as police first thought, Wilcox said.
A tenant in an apartment building discovered jewelry was missing when she came home from work Friday night, Wilcox said. Someone had gotten in through a window during the day, she said.
Along with the jewelry, some household items, including candles, matches and food, were missing.
Both girls received a date to appear in juvenile court, Wilcox said.
