LIVERMORE — Selectpersons agreed Monday night to choose NITCO of Lewiston to repair the town’s 2005 JCB backhoe/loader for $11,468, town Administrative Assistant Carrie Castonguay said Tuesday.
The price includes use of a substitute backhoe during repairs.
Voters rejected buying a new backhoe at the annual town meeting in June by a vote of 30-23. The majority felt the current backhoe could be repaired. Among the repairs needed mentioned in June was a hydraulic pump system.
In other business, the board voted to accept the bid of RS Pidacks Inc. of Livermore for $6.25 per yard for 4,500 yards of sand, including delivering it, mixing it with salt and piling it, she said.
The other bidder was ACV Sand & Gravel of Canton that submitted a bid of $7.85 per yard.
Selectpersons also voted to accept a heating oil bid from Blanchard’s Cash Fuel of Turner for a fixed price of $3.239 per gallon of oil for the Highway Garage and Town Office, Castonguay said.
The town uses about 1,700 gallons of fuel for the two locations.
The other bid was from Dead River Co. in Farmington for a fixed price of $3.2413 per gallon.
The board also finalized details of a reception for the community to meet Castonguay on Sept. 22 at Tee Time Tavern on Maple Lane in Livermore.
Selectpersons will hold their meeting there at 6 p.m. and the reception will follow, Castonguay said. There will be a cake.
