Dinner, dance benefits homeless
FARMINGTON — A dinner and dance event under the stars to benefit the Western Maine Homeless Outreach shelter will take place from 5 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, at the Titcomb Lodge.
Food will be provided by Calzolaio Pasta Co.
Jason Mancine and the Foothills Jazz Quartet will provide the music.
Advance tickets are $14 per person and $25 per couple by Sept. 11.
Tickets at the door are $15 per person and $30 per couple.
A table of eight with signage is $100.

Campground Band dance at Jay VFW
JAY — A dance will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, at the VFW Hall, 64 Jewel St.

RCAM annual meeting Sept. 15
LEEDS — The 44th Annual Meeting of the Rural Community Action Ministry will take place at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 15, at the office on 81 Church Hill Road.
A new slate of board members will be elected. The public is invited to attend.
Carthage Historical Society meeting
CARTHAGE — On Tuesday, Sept. 18, the Carthage Historical Society will hold its monthly meet at the museum. There will be a 5:30 p.m. potluck supper with a meeting to follow.
Free conference for vets, family
FARMINGTON — Bringing Worlds Together, a free conference for military veterans, family/community members and service providers will be held from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, at University of Maine, Farmington.
Keynote speaker will be Kayla Williams, Arabic linguist and military intelligence, who wrote the books, “Love My Rifle More Than You. Young and Female in the US Army” and “Plenty of Time When We Get Home, Love and Recovery In the Aftermath of War.”
The featured speaker, Robert H. Moore, is a board-certified traumatologist.

Public supper at American Legion
LIVERMORE FALLS — American Legion Post 10 George Bunten will hold a public supper from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, at the Post, 17 Reynolds Ave.
Cost for adults, $7; kids under 12, $4.
Menu includes homemade baked beans, red hot dogs, biscuits, fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, assorted casseroles and vegetables, desserts and coffee.

Retired Educators to meet Sept. 22
RANGELEY — The Franklin County Retired Educators will initiate the 2014-15 series of meeting on Monday, Sept. 22, at 11 a.m. at the Rangeley Episcopal Church. The guest speaker will be Larry Given, president of Maine Education Association-Retired, who will speak about the organization’s membership and benefits.
Annual dues may be paid at this meeting or sent to Debbie Kidder. Lunch will be served by the great cooks as usual.
