PARIS — Plans are underway to construct a new ice cream shop with a drive-through window at 56 Main St., within walking distance of the downtown.
The site is a dirt patch but will soon boast a 2,500-square-foot ice cream parlor with interior and exterior seating.
The idea is the dream of West Paris resident Veronica Poland, who will buy half of the new commercial site from her father-in-law, Kenneth Poland, also of West Paris, who’s clearing the former car wash after purchasing the lot earlier this year. The rental unit on the second half of the building does not yet have a tenant.
The business will be family-run with the ice cream made from scratch onsite. Veronica Poland’s children will tend the counter, while other family members are likely to build the shop’s furniture.
The business, Poland said, will take advantage of people’s lifestyle. “I think people are always on the go and busy,” she said.
The business does not yet have a confirmed name and is still in the planning stages. A site plan application has been reviewed and accepted by the Planning Board. Doors could open to the dairy treat in March.
