Responsible Maine voters should be reminded that after 40 years of Democrat majorities in state government, a Republican majority in 2010 inherited a massive debt in retirement funds, health funds and hospital payments. Gov. Paul LePage and Treasurer Bruce Poliquin reduced those deficits and paid the hospital debt.
And long overdue, the Republicans removed the state income tax burden from our lower income citizens and taxes were reduced. Resources were re- directed toward the truly needy. Unemployment was reduced.
In 2012-2014, a Democrat majority attempted to overturn the Republican reforms, but was not successful because of LePage’s vetoes.
Democrats elected this November will be required to show party loyalty, including supporting those in Washington. They have a president who is inadequate in most matters, except speaking from a teleprompter or playing golf. Electing Maine Democrats is endorsing Obama’s over-spending, his timid foreign policy, his lack of illegal immigration control, and allowing the deterioration of U.S. Armed Forces.
Voters should ask themselves if they are voting for Democrats out of tradition, or, do they really agree with all of the faulty policies the Democrats adopted, many of which defy common sense.
Talk and promises are meaningless. Voters should consider what the Republicans did and stand for, instead of the Democratic hot air promises.
The Democrats trend toward serving their party, whereas the Republicans serve the people.
Voters should open their minds and their eyes.
