FARMINGTON — Police said a University of Maine at Farmington student was injured Monday when the motorbike he was riding hit a parking lot curb and he was thrown onto rocks.
Jonathan Ellis, 22, of Farmington was taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital by a NorthStar ambulance, UMF Officer Scott Jennings said.
Ellis was leaving the parking lot behind the UMF Fitness Center just before 4 p.m. when his bike hit the curb. He was riding a Yamaha R6, which was new to him, Jennings said. The bike hit the curb and he apparently was thrown over two large rocks onto a banking. Ellis may have fractured his leg, the officer said.
No one else witnessed the accident.
Police said Ellis was wearing a helmet.
Members of Farmington Fire and Rescue helped at the scene.
