MEXICO — Members of Stephens High School Class of 1950 are invited to meet for the monthly luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, at the Covered Wagon Restaurant.

Poetry night at Rumford Library

RUMFORD — Fourth Thursday Poetry will take place from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, at the Rumford Public Library.

Attendees are invited to bring a poem to share; bring a friend. Light refreshments will be served.

Variety show at Andover church

ANDOVER — There will be a variety show at the Andover Congregational Church at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27.

Performers will dress as their favorite singer, character or as themselves. This should prove to be fun for the audience as well as the performers.

This event is to benefit the Andover Food Pantry. Admission is a love offering.

There will be refreshments at intermission and a 50/50 raffle.

Car, motorcycle display at Eagles

RUMFORD — Rumford Eagles Club 1248 will hold its seventh annual classic, antique, hot rod, muscle car and motorcycle display from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27.

Donations will be accepted.

Noel and Don will provide music from 1 to 3 p.m.

Hamburgers, hot dogs, French fries, chips, soda and bottled water will be for sale.

A Pink Sock Hop will also take place from 8 p.m. to midnight.

There will be a Chinese auction and 50/50 raffle.

Entry fee is $5. Members get in free.

All proceeds will benefit Maine people suffering from breast cancer.

Tables at Legion craft, food fair

RUMFORD — The American Legion Auxiliary Post 24 will hold a craft and food fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, at the post hall.

A raffle and bake sale table will be available as well.

Breakfast and lunch will be served for a small charge.

Craft fair chairmen are Donna Wotton and Anita Murphy.

Crafters can rent one table for $15 or two for $25. Tables must be paid for up front. Money can be dropped off or mailed to American Legion, 184 Congress St., Rumford, ME 04276.

The American Legion Auxiliary recently raised funds for boots for Maine homeless veterans, for local residents at the Veterans’ Home in South Paris and for children of deployed soldiers.
