In 2008 she was awarded a Fulbright Memorial Fund Scholarship to travel to Japan where she studied Japanese history, culture and educational systems. In April of 2013 as a U.S. Department of State Fellow, Towns traveled to Kazakhstan to study Kazakh society and presented an overview of the American education system to Kazakh and Russian professionals.
Her most recent trip was to China last month as a participant in the Fulbright Hays Summer Seminar Abroad Program. She traveled to Beijing, Xi’an, Congqing and Shanghai learning about Chinese history, economy, society and art.
