WALES — Oak Hill High School and Oak Hill Middle School congratulate the winners and honorable mentions of the annual OHYWC/Esther Reynolds Literary Writing Contest.

OHHS winners were Abigail Bossie, Sabrina Gauthie and Kylee Veilleux. OHMS winners were Noah Leclair, McKenzie Gervais and Michaela Gervais.

Awarded honorable mentions were Ben Wilcox, Nick Wilcox, Jon Wilcox, Nik Peterson, Isabella Coulombe, Maddison Whitney, Isabelle Michaud, Josh Lebel, Samantha Deans, Justin Garand and Alyssa Finn.

Many students offered suggestions on how to improve next year’s writing contest. Next year organizers are going to try something new at OHMS: a grade-level writing contest. Writing prompts will be a part of the contest along with more writing categories for everyone.

Five 2014 graduating OHHS students were awarded scholarships: Baylee Ayres, Kelly Reynolds, Derek Gamage, Sarah Carpenter and Erin Black.

The Esther Reynolds Literary Scholarship is in remembrance of a great educator and a member of the community who passed on her love of reading by way of the Reading Is Fundamental Program, a program designed to encourage children to read and at the same time dream about what lies ahead for them.

Reynolds taught at the then-Sabattus Central School which later was renamed Oak Hill Middle School.
