ANDOVER — Employees with the Andover Food Pantry will hold a variety show at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, at the Andover Congregational Church to raise money for the organization.
Employee Linda Couture said she has helped organize variety shows for the Andover Food Pantry in the past, but due to time constraints and conflicting schedules, she hasn’t been able to do it “in a couple of years.”
“We decided that instead of doing a bake sale or something like that, we wanted to do something a little more fun and different,” Couture said. “A variety show was the first idea that popped into our head.”
Admission is a “love offering,” she said.
“In the past, we had people bring cans of food,” Couture said. “We just don’t like to ask people for an exact amount. We want everyone to have a chance to have fun, so we ask that people donate only what they can.”
Couture said some local musicians will dress up and perform as their favorite singer.
“Some of the people dressing up told me they’re going to wait until the night of the performance to show me who they are,” Couture said. “That should be a surprise.”
Some of the performers have backed out of the variety show, Couture said, adding that she has a backup plan in the event that fewer musicians show up than expected.
“We’ll try to have the musicians who show up perform a series of songs while the people in the audience sing along,” Couture said. “That way, if we get less people, we can keep the audience interested.”
There will also be an intermission, refreshments and a 50/50 raffle.
