LEWISTON — Catching a weeknight movie in Lewiston is about to get tougher.
Four weeks after Flagship Cinemas closed its Oxford theater, the chain has cut the hours at its Lewiston location, closing its doors from Monday through Thursday.
The change begins on Monday.
“We have no intentions of stopping operations in Lewiston,” said Andrew Poore, the chain’s director of operations. No workers have been laid off, though hours have been cut, he said.
Plans call for the theater to resume a seven-days-a-week schedule during holidays and school vacations, he said.
The company is also researching the cost of transforming the theater’s 10 screens to digital projectors, he said.
Operations at the Auburn theater will go unchanged, he said.
Oxford’s Flagship Cinema closed on Sept. 1.

- Flagship Cinemas announced Friday that its Lewiston theater was moving to a Friday through Sunday schedule due to “business concerns.” Its Auburn theater is maintaining a full, seven-days-a-week schedule, said Andrew Poore, the chain’s director of operations.
