Joey Doiron of Berwick won the Ripley and Fletcher Ford 150 at Oxford Plains Speedway on Saturday afternoon, but second place was enough for D.J. Shaw to secure his first Pro All Stars Series North championship.

Doiron stalked leader David Oliver for most of the race before emerging from a tense side-by-side battle with the lead in the closing laps.

A caution flag produced a three-lap scramble at the finish, but Doiron had enough in reserve to pull away for his second PASS North win of the season.

Shaw, 24, of Center Conway, N.H., got around Oliver to claim the runner-up spot and lock up the season sweepstakes.

His closest pursuer coming into the race, six-time champion Johnny Clark of Farmingdale, finished fourth, with Glen Luce of Turner fifth.

Dominant early in the season and consistent thereafter, Shaw wound up with three wins, 11 top-five finishes and 12 top-10s in 14 events.

Austin Theriault led the first 10 laps before Dave Farrington Jr. of Jay charged to the front. Oliver soon took over and set a rapid pace before the first yellow flag on lap 38 for a spin by Bobby Timmons.

Doiron settled into second around lap 50, with Shaw advancing into the top five at the same checkpoint. They were running 2-3 at lap 100, but Doiron hooked up with leader Oliver to put a majority of the field down at least one lap.

Curtis Gerry’s off-track excursion on lap 131 slowed the race and gave Doiron his crack at Oliver on the ensuing restart.

Scott Mulkern finished sixth, followed by Scott McDaniel of Livermore, Theriault, Turner’s Mike Rowe and two-time reigning Oxford 250 winner Travis Benjamin.
