- A wasp nest hangs 20 feet above the ground among autumn leaves in Hartford. Some believe higher nests forecast a more severe the winter. According to Gale Ross, Fall Foliage spokesperson for the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry, Maine has reached peak leaf color with a low leaf drop of less than 30%. This upcoming weekend the Department will be offering ranger-led fall foliage hikes at Mount Blue State Park in Weld and Bradbury Mountain State Park in Pownal.
