LEWISTON — The Lewiston CareerCenter will host a job fair from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 6, at its building on 5 Mollison Way. More than 25 employers are expected.

In addition, attendees can learn about two new training opportunities in information technology and sheet metal occupations. The Sheet Metal Workers Local 17 of Maine will offer information about apprenticeships that allow trainees to earn while they learn.

The Professional Development divisions of the Maine Community College System will deliver Comp TI A+ training for at least 150 laid-off Maine residents who qualify. Classes will be at no charge to the students. Jobs that use Comp TAI A + include technical support specialists, field service technicians, IT support technicians, IT support administrators and IT support specialists.

Employers participating in the fair are ADECCO, Arcadia New England, Bank of America, Bates College, Care and Comfort, Catholic Charities, Cianbro, the city of Lewiston, Compounding Solutions, Creative Innovations, Clover Health Care, Crossmark, FedEx, Manpower, Medical Care Development, MGA Caststone Inc., National Able Network, Prudential Insurance, Sequel Care of Maine, the Small Business Administration, Staff Management, Stericycle and United Fabricants Strainrite.

Positions include stitching, carpenters, customer service, production, substitute teachers, educational technicians, financial service associates, construction, behavioral health professionals, direct care providers, drivers, cashiers and administrative assistants.

Attendees should bring a resume and be prepared to have an “interview-like” conversation with employers to discuss skills, knowledge areas and abilities. Job seekers should also be dressed for an interview.

French, Spanish and Somali interpreters will be available but requests should be made in advance to the CareerCenter.
