I do not know what planet Gov. Paul LePage lives on when he talks about reforming welfare saying that people have to get jobs.
Where are the “jobs”?
People need to be trained for available jobs. Who will pay for day care services if mothers need to work? How about transportation to the job if the person has no car and buses do not go there? Will the job pay a living wage? Will the job provide benefits? Will the job accommodate the handicapped who want to work? Who will babysit the children while parents are in training or in school?
Has any politician looked at those issues and provided a way to help the helpless who find themselves at the bottom of the barrel economically?
What Maine needs to see is action out of our politicians, not mere words.
