WILTON — Selectpersons approved a property revaluation contract Tuesday with John E. O’Donnell & Associates of New Gloucester for a cost of $225,000, Town Manager Rhonda Irish said Friday.
Voters approved raising $56,250 at town meetings in 2013 and June for half of the cost, she said.
They will be asked to raise the remainder at town meetings in 2015 and 2016.
Field work will begin in November and end in November 2015.
The new property valuations will show up in tax bills in the fall of 2016, she said.
In another matter, selectpersons tabled action on an appointment of a new RSU 9 school director to represent the town until they hear from a third candidate.
There are three people who have submitted their names for consideration to fill the position vacated by James Black of Wilton until the annual town meeting in June 2015.
The candidates are Cherie Ann Harrison, Jan M. Collins and Betty Shibles.
Irish said she had them fill out a committee application. Harrison and Collins were at Tuesday’s meeting to talk to selectpersons, but Shibles was not able to make it.
The board wanted to wait until they had a chance to talk Shibles about why she wanted to serve.
Selectpersons also changed their meeting schedule and agreed to hold the next meeting at 7 p.m. on Oct. 28 because of elections to be held at the Town Office on Nov. 4, and the following week is Veterans Day, Irish said.
The board will meet once in November.
Selectpersons also set the rate of pay at $13 an hour for a seasonal truck driver to work with the Highway Department from Dec. 1 to March 31. The town is advertising for the position.
“The seasonal position is not new, but we just hired the person filling the seasonal position last year as a full-time person for a vacancy we had,” Irish said. “The seasonal position is not a union position.”
