WILTON — Frechette’s Sales and Service at 461 U.S. Route 2 will move to the former Agway building at 912 U.S. Route 2 within the next few weeks, owner Scott Frechette said Monday.
After Carlton Berry and his son, Andrew Berry, co-owners of Mt. Blue Agway, closed the store in October 2013, the stock and building were auctioned in November.
Frechette said he was a high bidder on the building but the owners did not accept his offer. A year later, they reconsidered and negotiated with him.
With a need for more room, Frechette considered an expansion at his present site but thought a new location was as cost effective. The space will allow for two large garages, a parts department and showroom. There will be a little less showroom to make room for the parts department, he said.
Frechette is remodeling the front part of the store.
Along with a line of Ski-Doo snowmobiles and snowmobile apparel, Frechette sells truck accessories and used vehicles.
He moved Frechette’s Ski-Doo from Dixfield to the former site of Trask’s Inc. at 461 U.S. Route 2 in 2009, he said. That property is now for sale.
