WILTON — A hot cup of Carrabassett Coffee will be available at the Wilton Free Public Library starting Tuesday, Oct. 21.

Through a partnership with the Carrabassett Coffee Co., the library will offer the Bad Dog medium/dark roast and decaf medium roast for $1 for an 8-ounce cup and $1.50 for a 12-ounce cup.

The new service is a fundraiser for the library, Lynne Hunter, adult services librarian, said. It’s another way to raise funds, and it goes along with the library’s philosophy to branch out and provide different things for patrons, she said.

People can enjoy the coffee at the library or take it to go, Hunter said. It will be available at the front desk.

In November and December, bags of the library’s own ground blend, Bookworm Blend, will be available for the holidays, she said.

Among the library’s offerings are special collections that can be taken out on a loan basis like a book. One popular this summer was a vehicle pass for day trips to visit state parks in Maine, she said.

“We have a huge collection of cake pans,” she said, for people who want one for a special birthday cake. There are so many they can’t be displayed, so a binder with pictures of them is is being created for patrons to choose from.

The library staff also has a goal to create a multiuse outdoor space, she said. They are seeking grant money and local funds to build a patio on the south side of the library, hoping to complete it by next summer.

The project will involve grading, fencing and landscaping, she said. John Black of Rocky Hill Landscaping is working on the design with the staff.

“We’re lucky to be in such a beautiful spot,” she said. The downtown property is bordered by Wilson Stream.

The patio will have chairs and tables where people can enjoy coffee, use the library’s Wi-Fi or just relax. Children’s programming is also being considered for the space.
