WILTON — A local teen received minor injuries Monday afternoon when the SUV she was driving and a truck collided at Route 2 and Maxwell Road.
China Dunn, 17, was taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital by a NorthStar Ambulance, Wilton police Chief Heidi Wilcox said.
Truck driver Mark Pomeroy, 64, of Wilton was not injured, Wilcox said.
Dunn was driving a 2004 Buick SUV when she attempted to cross Route 2 to Maxwell Road at around 1 p.m. Wilcox said the sun may have affected her ability to see Pomeroys’s 2014 Dodge truck headed west on Route 2.
Both vehicles received extensive damage and were hauled from the scene by Hilltop Wrecker Service of Jay.
Franklin County Sheriff’s Deputy Chris Chase assisted at the scene. Members of Wilton and East Dixfield fire departments also helped.
This is the second accident at the intersection in about 10 days, Randy Hall, East Dixfield fire chief, said. Two people were injured Oct. 10 when the car they were in and a pickup truck collided at the intersection, he said.
Also on Oct. 10, an accident happened at McCrillis Corner and Route 133. And on Monday, a tractor-trailer overturned at the end of McCrillis Corner Road on Route 156, he said.
