LEWISTON — The mayors of Lewiston and Auburn will join Republican Gov. Paul LePage on Wednesday to announce their support for LePage’s re-election campaign during an event at DaVinci’s Eatery at 150 Mill St.

Auburn Mayor Jonathan LaBonte and Lewiston Mayor Robert Macdonald will endorse LePage, the former mayor of Waterville, during the 10 a.m. event, according to a news release from LePage’s campaign.

In June, LaBonte joined LePage’s Cabinet as director of the Governor’s Office of Policy and Management, a paid position.

In the 2010 election that saw LePage first win office, LaBonte offered his support to independent Eliot Cutler. Cutler and Democrat Mike Michaud, Maine’s 2nd District U.S. congressman, are running against LePage.
