LEWISTON — It could take up to two weeks for the state Medical Examiner’s Office to release the autopsy results for a baby who died in Lewiston on Monday.
A representative from the office said the medical examiner is waiting for toxicology results, which is standard procedure in the death of a baby.
State and local police are investigating the death of the boy, who was found in a bathtub in his family’s Pierce Street apartment.
Police said Sean St. Amand, 27, placed the baby, who would have turned 1 on Oct. 30, in the tub with his 2-year-old sister for a bath. St. Amand is the father of both children. When St. Amand later checked on the children, the boy was unresponsive.
He was declared dead at Central Maine Medical Center.
The boy shared his father’s name, Sean St. Amand.
The boy’s mother, Jennifer Everett, 28, was taking a nap in the apartment at the time.
Police have said they do not know why the father left the room or how long he was gone.
