BETHEL — The Bethel Alliance Church will host its third annual Fall Harvest Festival from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, youth pastor Nick Lutzo said Thursday afternoon.
He said when he first became youth pastor he suggested some kind of Halloween festival for the kids.
“As it turns out, the church used to do it and hadn’t done it in recent years,” he said. “We started it up again a few years ago, and every year since, we’ve added onto it a little bit.”
The festival typically draws as many as 100 children, Lutzo said.
“We have a variety of different things happening,” he said. “There’s the ‘Trunk or Treat’ event, where kids go around from parked car to parked car and get candy from people’s decorated trunks. Sometimes, we get our residents to bring farm animals and we get a little petting zoo going.”
Children will also have the chance to receive temporary tattoos and play games, including pumpkin ring toss.
“The event has grown quite a lot over the years,” Lutzo said. “For the last few years, Halloween has fallen on a weekday, but this is the first time we’ve had it on a weekend. I’m not sure how it’s going to affect our turnout, but I can only assume it’ll increase. It’s a good opportunity for us to not only showcase the mission of the church, but also meet the needs of the community.”
There will be cider and donuts for parents.
