RUMFORD — Rumford police are seeking help from the public to solve a burglary and theft at Rumford Elementary School.

School officials discovered the break-in on Monday when they returned to school, Sgt. Douglas Maifeld said on Tuesday afternoon.

“They got away with a bag of lollipops and $31.30,” he said of the thief or thieves. “They broke into two different offices and took $10.30 from one office and $21 from another. They also broke windows and doors.”

Maifeld said the incident remains under investigation, but he’s hoping someone in the community can help.

“If anyone saw anyone suspicious in the area over the weekend, contact myself or Capt. (Daniel) Garbarini,” he said.

To help, call the department at 207-364-4551 or write Garbarini at dgarbarini@rumfordpd.com or Maifeld at dmaifeld@rumfordpd.com.
