BETHEL — The Bethel Area Chamber of Commerce will host its 18th annual Crafts and Wares Fair from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28. at the Bethel Inn Resort’s conference center. It’s a way for residents to shop locally on Black Friday.
Jessie Perkins, events and marketing manager for the chamber, said the past couple of years have been “really great” for the fair.
“People have really started focusing on shopping locally, and our vendors have been happy with the turnout the fair gets every year,” Perkins said. “The big chain stores open earlier and earlier every year. If people ever get sick of shopping at those big stores, they can come to the fair.”
The fair will feature 35 vendors, offering handmade baskets, paintings, photography, knitted items, handmade jewelry, jams, jellies, pickles, soaps, lotions, quilted items and wooden products.
Perkins said the maximum number of vendors the conference center can handle is 35, and it typically fills up every year.
“We always get a large number of vendors, and a wide variety of items for people to choose from,” Perkins said.
During the fair, Deepwood Farm of Albany Township will give free horse-drawn wagon rides from 1 to 3 p.m. on the town common.
“Deepwood Farm has been bringing their horses and doing wagon rides for many years,” Perkins said. “Usually, it kicks off during the Crafts and Wares Fair, and every Saturday after that, they’ll hold free wagon rides at the town common.”
