FALMOUTH — Fire destroyed a home at 12 Inverness Road shortly before 11 p.m. on Saturday night.
The son of the homeowners, meanwhile, is being held without bail on charges of burglary, theft and attempted theft after he was allegedly found naked in a home 2.5 miles away.
It was unclear Monday if the fire and alleged break-ins are related.
Most of the house, other than the structure of a three-car garage, was completely destroyed, and the cause of the blaze was under investigation. According to town records, the building was valued at $602,500; with land the property was assessed at $799,100.
No injuries were reported from the fire, although one of three household dogs was missing.
Police Department Lt. John Kilbride said 18-year-old Logan Valle, the son of the owners of the home, allegedly broke into two homes on Fieldstone Lane Saturday night, in an attempt to steal the keys to a vehicle.
Police found Valle’s car two miles away from the Fieldstone Lane homes. Kilbride said it appeared someone unsuccessfully tried to set the vehicle on fire.
Valle was found naked in the attic of one of the Fieldstone Lane homes. He was taken to Cumberland County Jail after being evaluated at Maine Medical Center in Portland.
At the same time as the incidents on Fieldstone Lane, the Falmouth Fire Department was called to the fire at the home of Valle’s parents. According to police, the home was completely engulfed in flames.
According his Facebook page, Valle is a former honor student at Falmouth High School, and has been employed at the Hannaford supermarket in West Falmouth since 2014.
