OXFORD — Police said an Oxford teenager is recovering from surgery in Portland after an unintentional shooting involving a handgun at his home Sunday afternoon.
The Oxford Police Department is investigating the noontime incident on Gladys Drive, Lt. Mike Ward confirmed Monday morning.
The 16-year-old boy is at Maine Medical Center. He was flown by LifeFlight helicopter, Ward said.
Police are waiting to interview individuals and have not released details about the shooting, Ward said.
“It’s a tragic, unfortunate incident, but we’re lucky it’s going to turn out OK,” he said.
