- Despite the soggy afternoon, nothing could keep Auburn crossing guard Diana Woodsum’s spirits down. “Goodnight Sunshine, goodbye handsome,” she says to students from Washburn Elementary School as they cross Lake Auburn Avenue on Monday afternoon. “I have been doing this for 14 years and I always greet them and send them off every day with something positive. I just do this for the kids.”
