ALNA — A man was hospitalized Saturday morning and a woman evidently took her own life in an Alna suicide that Maine State Police spokesman Stephen McCausland said had some “unusual circumstances.”
The shooting occurred at a home on West Alna Road, he said Sunday. After it was reported to local police, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office asked Maine State Police for assistance with the investigation.
“The conclusion at the scene was that a woman had committed suicide, and her male companion was also wounded. He was taken to a hospital for treatment,” McCausland said.
The Wiscasset Newspaper on Saturday identified the injured man as 22-year-old A.J. Lang after receiving information from the sheriff’s office. Lang reportedly suffered a head injury after being accidentally wounded by a gunshot.
BDN efforts to contact the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday were not immediately successful.
