LIVERMORE FALLS — Dozens of workplace violations cited by the state in September have been corrected, Town Manager Kristal Flagg said Monday.
The paperwork was submitted 10 days before the Nov. 14 deadline, she said.
The state’s Bureau of Labor Standards fined the town $4,200 for violations at the Public Works Garage, Transfer Station, library, Fire Station, Police Station, Town Office and Treatment Plant.
The penalty may be reduced after the state reviews the information and sees the corrective action that has been taken.
Flagg is waiting to hear from the state to see what the next step will be.
Livermore went through the same type of inspection in December 2013. After corrective action was taken, the state reinspected and the penalty was lowered from $1,600 to $160 this year.
A state inspector made a surprise visit Aug. 4 to Livermore Falls and found the violations of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration rules. The inspector cited 61 violations, but some departments shared the same violation, Flagg said in September.
The Police Department had one citation, the Sewer Treatment Plant had three and the Fire Department had two, all at $700 each, she said.
A lot of deficiencies were electrical, and there were some training issues, she said.
Workers have been trained, but were not up to date on new standards, she said. In some cases, training was not completed for all employees.
“Kristal did an excellent job in ensuring that all departments completed their Bureau of Safety standards violations corrections in a timely manner,” Selectboard Chairwoman Louise Chabot said. “All departments were extremely cooperative in accomplishing this objective. The town was 10 days earlier than the deadline and we now anticipate that we will receive a lesser fine.”
