MINOT — A 19-year-old Lewiston man was killed Sunday morning in a two-vehicle accident on Center Minot Hill Road.
According to Maine Department of Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland, Marcus Bennett, 19, of Lewiston was traveling eastbound in his 1993 Saab at about 9:45 a.m.
At the same time, Donna Wallace, 51, of Minot was traveling westbound with a passenger in her 2006 Honda Pilot when Bennett lost control on a curve and slid into Wallace’s path.
McCausland said Wallace struck Bennett’s passenger side door.
Bennett was taken to Central Maine Medical Center and died shortly after arrival according to McCausland. Wallace and her passenger also were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
McCausland said speed and icy road conditions were factors in the crash that closed Center Minot Road for about two hours while troopers investigated.
The state police were assisted by Minot Fire and Rescue and United Ambulance service.
